Platini plays once more

June 13, 2011

Platini kicked the ball once again yesterday in a gala match held for retired French player, Olivier Rouyer, as Platini came on for the latter for the last 10 minutes of the game. It was a match which opposed an AS Nancy Lorraine team of 1978  (with Rouyer and co.) to Variétés club de France (comprising of the the likes of Blanc, Zidane, Dugarry, Papin, Giresse and others). Nancy lost 4-3, depite Rouyer’s efforts to score for his last game, but he eventually managed to score from the spot, the first time he admitted he took a penalty in his whole career. Platini’s introduction did not change anything in the scoreline.

Tevez to leave Man City?

June 6, 2011

The “Tevez  Saga” continues: To leave or not to leave, that is the question…

In a declaration published yesterday, he admitted that City told him he was free to leave, and that he will never return there again, although he has not said whether he’s leaving during the break or any specific time. Reports also say that he does not trust some of the current board members of the team as well. So when are you leaving “El Apache”???

‘Flop’nando?

February 7, 2011

Fernando Torres did not enjoy a great debut with the Blues of Chelsea against former club Liverpool, and he lasted only about 65 minutes on the pitch before being replaced by Kalou, and booed by his ex-supporters throughout the period he played. The £50M tag attached to him has not been justified in that game, although he did get two opportunities to score, but once the shot was too high, and the second was blocked by former teammate Carragher.

Frantic Transfer Deadline Day

February 1, 2011

Carroll and Torres complete moves

It was a frantic transfer deadline day yesterday, as Chelsea and Liverpool both finally managed to get their men, but will Torres’ departure from Liverpool be a big blow for the latter seems to be the question, although they did manage to eventually sign Carroll from Newcastle, and also got Suarez from Ajax.

Capello the comedian

Matt wonders what he needs to do to play for England

Tonight represents the day the experimental England squad take on a not-too-long-ago experimental France squad. For both teams, gone are the failures that represented them at the World Cup, albeit only temporarily for England. It is the rejuvenated vs the rejuvenating, but I question whether Capello is seeing something I’m not.
