Anelka out of French squad
Things are going from bad to worse for the French national team, as they are already on the brink of leaving the competition, and Anelka aggravated things during half time in the match against Mexico, and has been sent back home by the French Football Federation today, thus may be putting more pressure on his team-mates for their final match. Although things are not clear yet over what really happened, it is reported that Anelka had rude words towards coach Domenech as stated:
go screw yourself, dirty son of a whore
He was immediately asked to apologize to Domenech by the president of the French Football Federation, but he categorically refused, and in the end they took the decision to kick him out of the squad earlier today, and Evra as captain had to give an interview on the affair today itself to the journalists present in South Africa.
This affair just brings more tension to the whole French squad, as it is not a secret to everyone that Domenech’s head has been on the guillotine for some time now, with many wanting him to resign even before the world cup started, and that some players in the squad as well are not too keen to follow his game plans. A shame to the beautiful game in the end…
The French situation is worse than ours, and that’s saying something. The team director has been sent home now, soon to be followed by the rest of the French squad, no doubt.
Ritesh, the French Federation have shamed themselves over and over. In their desire to see France represented at football’s premier event, they chose to ignore the opprobrium heaped upon them by one Thierry Henry. Not content with that, shambolic performances on the pitch were more than mathed by events off of it. This football writer, enthusiast and occasional critic says, the French class of 2010 should hang their collective heads in shame.
