Delicious football
It is not often I look forward to any game involving Arsenal but this time I’ll make an exception. The Barcelona vs Arsenal Champions League game promises to be 2 legs of beautiful football. We all know that both Barcelona and Arsenal play the same way, by passing it around in an attempt to catch their opponents off guard. This game will also see the return of Thierry Henry to Arsenal and less notably, Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona in the 2nd leg, as he is doubtful for the first at the Emirates.
Both teams are noted for their playing style and although Barcelona have more trophies and match winners, but they have also been known this season to show lapses in concentration, which is the reason why they find Real Madrid oh so close to them in the Primera Liga. Arsenal themselves have not been on song for a full 90 minutes, as they just demonstrated in their last game against Birmingham, and put this maths together and I’m hoping to see a glut of goals scored, which would all be contenders for goal of the season.
Thierry Henry didn’t want to face his old team, and because of the emotional ties involved, I think Guordiola might only use Henry sparringly, especially in the 1st leg, despite the professional that Henry is. Cesc Fabregas will also get a feel of what he lost out when he left the Nou Camp, and I’m sure the press in Spain will probably try to label it as a preview of things to come, driving rumours that eventually Fab will come back to Barcelona.
It’s only Sunday and the EPL weekend may not be over yet, but I cannot wait for the mid-week games to begin!
First leg = 2-2
Second leg = 3-2 Barcelona.
got it right so far! :)
First leg : 1-1
Second leg : 1-2(Arsenal)
Presently, it appears a key player from either side won’t make the first leg.
Andres Iniesta limped off at half-time against Mallorca and may be out for a fortnight.
Meanwhile, Craig Gardner cleans out Cesc Fibreglass at St.Andrews, a tackle which provoked a foul mouthed outburst from the myopic Wenger post game.
An interesting tie just got that little bit more so.
barca 2-0 both legs… better in defence, stronger in attack…
Barca better in defence? Relatively to Arsenal, yes, but even the likes of Mallorca and Getafe have penetrated them time and again. Its going to be all about which team bosses the midfield over the 180 minutes.
OMFG wasn’t it an excellent display of attacking football??? danggg!
