Maradona’s Ban: Two Months for Outburst

November 16, 2009

Class Act

FIFA has banned Argentina Manager Diego Maradona from football from Nov 15- Jan 15 following his outburst post 1-0 victory over Uruguay last month.

The stress of World Cup Qualification proved a bit much for Diego and although his nation had just won their spot in South Africa, he opened up in a lewd tirade against reporters and doubters of the Argentinian side (and more likely his coaching abilities).

The ban and £15,000 fine won’t have much affect on Maradona’s presence as manager other than missing the World Cup draw on December 4.  Argentina also have a tentatively scheduled friendly with the Czech Republic on December 16th at which the 49 year old manager would be in absentia.

Maradona has served as manager of the Argentinian side for just over a year, and his reign has been marred with conflict between the ex-International and his own players, staff, and the media.

Maybe this ban will bring a new era of bettered behavior from “the hand of God”, but Maradona sans temper? I’ll believe it when I see it.

Katie, by mistake you captioned the photograph Class Act, did you mean to write “fat waster”

Diego Armando Maradona should be right up there with some of the legends of the game, Zidane, Cruyff, Pele, Beckenbauer, Franck Queudrue etc, instead he spanked his talent up his nose and is on the run from the Italian tax inspectors.

The bloke is an odious creep and has just been handed a meaningless FIFA sanction.
His detractors can’t all be wrong.
