Rooney The Manager: United Ace Takes His Coaching Badges

"Wha dya think to reverting to the Christmas Tree formation boss, pushing Cole and Johnson high up the pitch with Gareth Barry sitting a little more deep?"

"Wha dya think to reverting to the Christmas Tree formation boss, pushing Cole and Johnson high up the pitch with Gareth Barry sitting a little more deep?"

He is without doubt one of the premier strikers in the world. Full of aggression and skill. Power and finesse. A little genius Scouse boy, with all the natural ability in the world.

And we all forget that he is the tender age of 23

This week ‘Our Wazza’ has decided he needs to think about the future. He has joined Edwin Van Der Sar, Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand on an official course to attain his UEFA qualified coaching badges..essential for the modern day football manager. He has been encouraged by Fabio Capello, who has highlighted Rooney’s astute understanding of tactical play and his future as a coach on the training ground.

Now you would expect that Edwin, Scholesy and Rio would want to get these sorted…all in their thirties and deciding whether they want to stay in the game or not. But at such a young age, it is a real statement of intent by the boy wonder. He starts the course with the full blessing of Sir Alex Ferguson. Rooney has enjoyed his time with Fergie so much that he has decided that it is the route he wants to take after he hangs up his boots, despite being a multi-millionaire and having the ability to just watch non stop football on his 120 inch plasma at his castle in the sky in Cheshire, eating crisps, getting fat, and ordering Colleen to get him “a cold one” from the fridge.

Who knows…if Fergie carries on til he’s eighty, maybe Roo will be the next United manager!

God help us. Rooney a future England coach? No thanks. You can count the number of brain cells on one hand.

Brilliant player, mind. But that doesn’t necessarily make you a tactical genius.

He’ll have to learn to speak English first. Might take a while.

Just look at Maradona. What a huge mess he made of Argentina. Actually was Grondona. He’s the idiot who hired Maradona. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/

      I agree.

Look also at Roy Keane. A world class player but a useless manager at Sunderland and Ipswich.

    Discussion required…

If Don Fabio stands down after the 2010 World Cup, who would be the favourites to take over?

Some thoughts (in no particular order)…

    1. Mike Bassett (dark horse) @ 1500/1
    2. Harry (diamond geezer) @ 50/1
    3. Eddie Howe (best manager in the Football League) @ 100/1
    4. Me @ even money (but I’m not available – sorry)
    5. My wife, Sara, @ 250/1 (she won’t suffer fools gladly – Ashley, beware)
    6. Lucy Pinder – no odds available at the mo’ but I’m sure she’ll be the lads favourite!
