Let’s take a bow to ‘Sir’ Ryan

giggs thanked by mates

Ryan Giggs was an important figure in today’s match against resilient Stoke City as he came on after 55 minutes of play to guide the Red Devils to yet another victory in the league.

The match from the start was more an ‘attack-defence’ one, with United having most of the possession, but the team lacked the usual brilliance and could not create an open chance to score in the first 45 minutes. Nani was so pitiful to see playing on that left wing, failing to control passes one after the other, and at one point was even involved in a discussion with Rooney (fortunately not so serious in the end), and had only one shot on target which Sorensen saved rather easily on his left. Rooney was almost anonymous, same for Berbatov, who although with his flicks and tricks, could not really combine with his team-mates, while Valencia was making an impact on his right side, but not as CR7 used to do it. He even had an opportunity to score but somehow shot wide after beating Sorensen.

The second half yet again saw United start well, but Nani was again in a bad state as he failed to collect passes, and this made Sir Alex switch him on the 55th minute, and it was old timer Ryan Giggs who came on. He made an instant impact, as just after the hour mark, he collected a pass from Fletcher, and threaded the ball to Berbatov, who easily slotted past Sorensen, 0-1. In most goals, it is the scorer who is mobbed by team-mates, but here it was Giggs who was mobbed by Berbatov and co, as his pass had opened up a game which was almost locked by Stoke.

United contined their pressure, and on the 75th minute, following a freekick, Giggs floated it beautifully in the box, and O’Shea headed home the 2nd for United, and once again went straight to Giggs to celebrate the goal. The Welsh Wizard was the hero of the night, 2 assists which led to an important victory, and this performance may have Nani sidelined again, he who just got a chance to prove his worth following Ronaldo’s departure. And it may also tempt Sir Alex to spend in January, with David Silva being seriously linked to the club, and he is eligible as well for Champions League football I think. Giggs for his behalf is having an excellent start of season, as he has now 5 assists from 2 consecutive games, not to forget he is after his 150th goal for United and given his performances this may not take too long to be achieved, it seems as if he has been rejuvenated and does not look like a 35-year old at all. Glory Glory ‘Sir’ Ryan Giggs, it’s may be time the queen knighted him as well!!!

You need to win away at Burnley as well, me thinks.

Long way to go, pal. It’s the proverbial marathon, not a sprint.

With the likes of Giggs and Scholes nearing the end, I would be concerned if I was SAF.

Nani and Anderson, at a combined £36m, are just not in the same class.

i hear what your saying Maserati. Nani is a fool. I have no confidence in the boy..still way to greedy and he has the decision making of a George Dubya. However i like Anderson..i think he will come good and could look a snip at 19 mil
