Phil Jagielka Robbed at Knifepoint in his Own Cheshire Home

September 25, 2009

Another Merseyside footballer has seen his home burglarized, but I don’t think he was a favorite for the honor of “Next to be Robbed” in the betting pools over at William Hill.

Apparently the injured Everton defender was arm-chairing his side’s 4-0 Carling Cup 3rd round victory over Hull Wednesday when a team of three armed men invaded his home.

According to the Cheshire Police, “Three men gained entry to a house in Knutsford. The homeowner was threatened with a knife and forced to hand over jewellery and the keys to his Range Rover car, fortunately nobody was injured during the incident and the car was found abandoned a short distance away.”

Phil is married with children, but I don’t believe they were home during the incident.

According to Reuters, although this burglary took place in Jagielka’s home in Cheshire, he is the 11th Merseyside footballer to be robbed in recent years.

Blackburn’s Vince Grella, Roque Santa Cruz’s wife, and Darren Fletcher’s Mother-in-law and fiancee have all been held at knifepoint recently and Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt and Pepe Reina’s homes were all burglarized in the football star’s absence.

Ruh-Roh, Merseyside.  CCTV not thwarting thieves plans?

Sounds like ya’ll need to git yourselves some good oldfashioned ‘Merican guns.  I jest.  And I’m glad the poor man wasn’t injured any further by these thugs.

This has become a real problem for footballers in the North West. There is a very organised bunch of criminals from the Liverpool area who seem to get an A+ in meticulous planning of these raids

I think Joseph Yobo is next

I think Joleon Lescott is next! Why not since he is now filthy rich and prob has change to spare! And there will be no sympathy for him from the Everton fans!

Awwww now Rob, How can you believe they were Scousers that robbed him?
The Robbery took place in Cheshire, not Merseyside… I’m sure they were from Manchester, not Liverpool since knutsford is only a few miles up the road from Manc. The Wheels were still on the stolen land rover!
