Could Sol be about to join Becks or is he off to…Ipswich?

September 25, 2009

After all the coverage of his quitting Notts County after just one game, speculation is where will Sol Campbell go now?

Several MLS clubs are interested in his signature, with LA Galaxy coming in as the favourites to sign him for the 2010 season starting in April.

Campbell is said to view a move to America very highly with the added bonus that he would like to get into acting!!!!!

But Roy Keane has stepped in to say that he would love him to come to Ipswich, saying “I don’t know the situation with his contract and it may be a long shot as I’m sure he will have plenty of options. Sol has had a fair bit of criticism in the past few days but I admire people who are brave enough to make a decision to go if it’s not working out”.

Keane then added “Trust me, there are a lot of people at different clubs up and down the country sitting on their contracts and picking up their wages. At least Sol was brave enough to say ‘It’s not happening for me’. That’s got to be admired”.

So will we see more footballers “doing a Sol”?

Could this be the start of a trend…

Hmmm the average American has no clue who Sol Campbell is (unlike David Beckham); I don’t think he’ll be able to demand anywhere near the wages he was at Notts County.
However, the weather is gorgeous and LA does have more douchebags per capita than any other US city except for maybe SoBe(Miami) and Las Vegas. So he would fit right in….
Interesting thought though; will have to watch and see how it plays out.

And what’s in the Kool Aid old Roy is drinking? Brave to stick it out for one match?
    Yes, a valiant warrior indeed.

It’s the acting part that got me! Cos he’d quit after one scene when he realises he has the smallest dressing room!

He should join the MLS, no matter the team he signs with.

Does anyone know if he would be allowed to play in the MLS should he join? Cos if its England he’d definitely have to wait til January.

But as we all know, the MLS has a totally different set of rules. Anyone?

FIFA rules should be the same but MLS do have their own set of rules it seems. LA Galaxy have said it would be for 2010 season, so I guess he can go before then and won’t play until the new season starts.

I think there are concerns over fitness, and depending on how long it takes him to get back into the game he could find this quite a struggle.
