Luca Toni Vows to Fight Tooth & Nail for His Spot

Ich Schiesse Toooorr!

FC Bayern striker Luca Toni has vowed to fight for his place in the club until the very end. The 32 year old Italian international has been out of favor in the German glamour club since Louis Van Gaal’s appointment as manager.

Toni revealed not long ago that he is considering a transfer in order to play regular football in this crucial World Cup year. He has since made a 180 and promised to fight for his place no matter what the cause… even if it means playing in FC Bayern’s reserves side for the entire year.

The 6 ‘5 centerforward will be featuring in Mehmet Scholl’s reserves side this weekend in Bundesliga 3 with the hopes of regaining a spot in the senior team. Toni will be bringing his 51 goals in 72 appearance to the lower leagues hoping to regain his fitness after injuring his ankle for Italy earlier in the summer.

With Italy very close in clinching their ticket to South Africa, it is understandable that players are willing to eat a piece or two of humble pie. It is nice to see a player of Toni’s stature doing whatever it takes to get to the big show next summer… maybe there is hope for footballers afterall.
