Nutjob Wenger gets counter-punched by Fergie

September 11, 2009

WengerFerguson-001

Arsene Wenger’s slide into dementia continues after an outrageous attack on Manchester United midfielder, Darren Fletcher.

The Arsenal creche manager claimed that United only play Fletcher in order for him to commit fouls on the pitch and play “anti-football.” Wenger’s outburst was in response to answering questions about his teams recent defeat to United, where he said “Fletcher committed 20 fouls without getting booked!”

fergie wengerHe also added “If you have seen the game, you don’t need me to tell you who but their player gets away without a yellow card. It’s quite amazing..I have seen today a player [Eduardo] who plays only on the pitch, but there are other points that for me are more urgent – players who play only to make fouls, who make repeated fouls and are never punished. They get out of the game without a yellow card, but I think it is more anti-football than a player who did what Eduardo did.”

Well, Sir Alex has not taken it lying down.

He said “Darren Fletcher, as we know, is one of the most honest and fairest players in the game, He does it fairly. For some, maybe, that’s probably annoyed them. That’s his job. That’s what he’s good at. He’s good at pressing the ball. His energy is incredible.”

Looks like Wenger will be in a hospital near you soon. Please do not offer him food or drink if you see him in the road and direct him to the nearest police station. He is almost reaching Paul Gascoinge standards for madness. Maybe if he had a midfielder like Fletcher he would be happier.

Wasn’t it Fletcher who tackled Arshavin in the penalty box during the match, which was definitely a foul and indeed a penalty?

I can understand Wenger being upset about the loss and Eduardo’s ban, but the match was two weeks ago!

    • September 11, 2009 11:47 am

erm yes it was fletcher who fouled Arshavin?? so what is the point here…character assasinate him..say he plays anti football…Wenger is a f&ckin loon

      • September 11, 2009 11:57 am

I mean, that’s probably why he singled out Fletcher is all so there’s at least a method to his maddness.

  2. September 11, 2009 2:00 pm

I was groggy this morning when I heard this report on Sky Sports but if I remember, Fletcher has 13 tackles, 19 fouls, and 1 yellow card thus far…..
Make of that what you will.

Exactly Fletcher has made more fouls than ball winning tackles – It’s not that he fouled and fouled its the fact there was NO punishment.

I seem to remember that a certain Patrick Viera was Arsenal’s midfield assassin in the recent past. Maybe Wenger should cast his mind back to some of the stuff that went on when dear Patrick went hunting.

    “The Arsenal creche manager”

You must be one of the 70,000 morons at old trafford singing paedophile songs. Cretin.

    • September 11, 2009 7:29 pm

If by “one of 70,ooo morons” you mean “season ticket holder,” then yes, “minttea,” Rob is one.

And millions of people around the world are green with envy over that fact.

Judging from the actual definition of the word “creche” I believe Rob was referring to the fact that Arsenal have a very young talent pool.

But then again, how would a cretin venture to incorporate vocabulary that even someone so obviously clever as yourself can’t even use correctly?

      Thanks so much for reading.

Katie, he made his intended use of words like ‘creche manager’ and ‘dementia’ perfectly clear within the article. You can be as green as you like.

Whatever else it is you think you know, it doesn’t stop all those loyal season ticket holders from singing vile songs en masse whenever Arsenal play there. There’s a “fact” for you.

    • September 11, 2009 8:54 pm

Fair play. And some of the Arsenal lads at my pub like to sing “Who’s that coming down the runway?” about the Busby Babes/Disaster of ’58.
I personally think it’s in exceedingly poor taste but showing them attention isn’t going to be met with any exchange of wit.
      They’ve already set the tone.
You’ll find this kind of singing in every ground in all of England.

Our writers try to entertain, and being that Arsene probably doesn’t read our blog, taking the piss isn’t as personal, you know?

I’ve seen some excellent banter in comments posted by readers and the WDKF writers, and I’m glad people read and weigh in but speaking as someone who has a horrible time biting my tongue, you’ll find infinitely more support and interest in your opinion if you phrase things in a more persuasive and less attacking manner.

And here, from a staunch United supporter- best of luck this weekend. I’d like to see a decisive victory from Arsenal. By far the lesser of two evils :-P

    hi katie,

Hmm.. I’ll try and be a little bit more eloquent next time. But this issue that united fans have with Wenger hasn’t gone away in what, 13 years? I’ve unfortunately witnessed it first hand at old trafford and it is breathtakingly tasteless. There’s a difference between a few guys at your local, and an entire stadium.

Hillsborough, Munich, no, I don’t sing filth like that. And 2 wrongs don’t make a right, so isn’t it high time that your lot put their house in order, remove the words to these songs from their forums and fan sites, maybe not selling CDs on Amazon with those songs on it, and quit the insinuating altogether? Is there even a question of doing so- I doubt it. I’ve not visited this website before, but I still think the word ‘creche’ was used knowingly and the tone the article set vitriolic to say the least; that is still my opinion and we can agree to disagree, unless the author wishes to clarify.

I’ve got my own reasons for wanting to sink Citeh tomorrow. Up the Gunners.

    • September 12, 2009 2:43 am

Here’s a little Hibs fun singing Paul Hartley is gay.

Not only do I have a massive crush on Paul Hartley* but I love the gays too.
      And I’m not upset.

I actually agree- making light of Paedophelia is no doubt disturbing.
But no matter what people sing, at least someone, somewhere is going to be offended. Where do you draw the line?
Right now, it’s at racism. That’s where you’ve crossed over into illegal territory. As it stands, Wenger chants remain at personal tastelessness. Including the tune on the CD was a bit too far in my opinion. I don’t think people personalize what they’re jibbing at when making comments in what they think is just all in fun.

But at the end of the day, it’s football. We can’t sit around singing Kum-ba-ya.

*Oh and if Paul Hartley wants to make a little video of his own demonstrating that he is most definitely not gay, he can call me.

    • September 12, 2009 10:37 am

OK as writer of this article lets clear things up..

The word creche was used due to your wimp ass gunners being cry babies. Therefore, Mr Wenger runs that business. It was not a reference to the Paedo chants. However, let it be known that i have called your manager a “Fucking C£nt” on many many many occasions..i do sing songs at Old Trafford, but i draw the line when it comes to things like Hillsborough, people dying, etc etc etc.
Your team is a spineless bunch of twats who cry that you play the “best football in the world ever” ……But.You.Win.Fuck.All. And you moan like bitches, defending your diving cheating Croatian….you’re almost scouse-like.

So please carry on…thanks for reading. Tell your friends

  8. September 12, 2009 3:49 am

I think everyone needs to understand that this is football, and goading at the opposing team is normal

More so if they are your crosstown rivals or you have a history against them.

Its not something you can stop, because we are all passionate about the teams we support. And complaining about it in one blog is not going to stop the 69,999 other supporters from doing the same thing. Fans are still human beings. There is more chance of them being very biased and rude in their choice of words, than them being level-headed. You can’t change that fact.

We all accept it as part of the game. I don’t blame West Ham fans for cursing at Defoe. I would do the same if I was one of them.

CDs, stuff on Amazon are all driven by businessmen, not fans. They’re out there to make a buck, and don’t really care who you support. Fans should not be blamed for that. The laws of economics say if there is a demand, then you supply, and they know this.

glamorousdiss- Paedophelia chants aren’t just a bit of harmless banter, and those businessmen happen to be utd fans selling their ‘wholesome’ brand of subhumanity to the world. Sounds like that’s acceptable in your world?

Rob- Loving your work, truly. Utd fan lecturing on diving, round of applause for the man… Anyway, you’ve obviously forgotten the titles we’ve snatched from under your noses, it obviously still grates, and I don’t mind that banter. However, I’ve no doubt in my mind you DON’T draw a line when it comes to paedo chants, just like the rest of your scum crowd.

    • September 12, 2009 1:58 pm

Yes Mr Tea i have totally forgotten the titles you have stolen from us..i honestly cant name the years those events happened but i guess you deserved the title those years. I know Wengers only won it 3 times which covers your total title successes since 1992 (3 from a 17 year period..1 better than Chelsea, 2 better than Leeds and Blackburn, 3 better than Liverpool) You must be bursting with pride.

In Keegan style, youd LOVE IT if i were to start calling your blind frenchman of a manager a child rapist here and now wouldnt you? Just so you can claim how maligned your team is, how everyone hates you..how United get away with all the shit. Well it aint gonna happen here pal, but yes there are plenty of Mancs that will help you on that.

The bragging rights lie with us today…you can keep your bleating up, but it is falling on deaf ears. I will buy you a pint next time you visit Our Theatre of Dreams..oh and the drink??

      BITTER…a great big pint of..

ok. lets just gain a little bit of perspective here. united fans sing that arsene is a paedo. are they actually accusing him of it, seriously saying that he is? no. they are mocking his physical appearance, the fact that he looks a bit weird.

i dont really get the fuss about the whole thing. i think people overreact at the mention of it. and rightly to an extent, its a vile thing, the vilest. but i think we lose as a society anyway when we begin to let the horrible things of life things creep into our lives, and take over to an extent. i mean, parents here cant video a sports day these days. feck sake, kids cant even win at a sports day either, incase losing upsets them. ok, so wenger’s a father, and its not very nice thing to say, but come on, nobody is ACTUALLY accusing him, its not serious. i mean, beckham regularly gets shit thrown at him like, your wife is a whore etc….to be honest, when his kids go to games, i think thats worse. its vitriolic and hate filled, whereas with wenger, they are generally making fun of his appearance. im sure many many people disagree. but come on, its all banter in a game. the guy is multi millionaire, highly respected. like he gives a fiddler’s about some manc calling him a paedo?! i think the major decisive factor is the context of it. its in jest. not actually accusing him of it, saying that he actually is. there is a difference in mocking the dead of munich or hillsborough. thats just plain wrong.

we all need a bit of humour in our lives,. we cant take everything so seriously. and if you think im trying to humourise what is a vile disgusting thing, then you are missing the point altogether. its not about that. wenger gets mocked for appearance. frankly, living in belfast, i get a lot worse if i wear the wrong thing in the wrong street. but god, if thats all i or wenger have to deal with in life…..we’re set

    • September 12, 2009 11:07 pm

      Excellent point Matthew well made.

Football fans will always throw shite at each other…its part of the game. Wenger is no paedophile but some fans just see it as a nasty way of taking the piss..storms in teascups me thinks

  12. September 12, 2009 8:16 pm

Matthew raises a good point. What proof is there that the fans are actually accusing him of being a pedophile? It is still only banter. I’d raise a good bet that for every 10 of Wenger’s supporters, at least 1 will accuse SAF of being something he’s not.

Mind you I am a fan of Arsene’s strategy of picking up players as kids and developing them. There were 2 articles on baby farming on this site and I clearly state which side I’m on.

Businessmen can also be fans. The businessman selling goods outside OT or Emirates stadium is taking every chance to earn dosh out of other fans, even if he is himself one. Being a fan does not pay the bill. Taking advantage of the situation does.

And besides, how can you prove that the businessmen selling stuff at OT or Emirates fans of that club anyway? Are they conclusively identifiable?

Passion is what makes us get so engrossed in the game. One man’s drink will always be another man’s poison. You’ll be surprised how coming to terms with this simple phrase makes not just supporting football, but everything in life a lot simpler to understand.

Matthew, is it not serious? Wenger deemed it serious enough to confront the media with real press rumours on the steps of Highbury when he first got the job, but nobody dared to confirm what it was. The club deemed it serious enough to threaten legal action against Amazon last week, who duly removed the CDs from sale. Not serious? I don’t quite understand the notion that whatever happens inside a football stadium is ‘only’ banter and ‘passion’. You only have the anonymity of the crowd to mask your vileness, and that vileness is perfectly acceptable human behaviour? Sounds like it is then.

    • Matthew permalink
      September 13, 2009 2:31 pm

seriously? you would class that as vileness? get a grip. there are vile things happen day in day out. terrible unspeakable things. but calling someone a paedophile, when it is OBVIOUSLY NOT SERIOUS is definitely not one of them. no, united fans are not seriously calling him a paedophile, wise up. if they were seriously accusing him of it…there’d be a little more concern to it, from all sides, namely the police. it is banter, its a laugh at the football because of how he looks. football is supposed to be a release from the real world, 90 odd minutes of a little bit of heaven. yea, for the clubs, the chairmen, the owners, its a business, its very serious, but for the fan, its our passion. its what we spend the week working our nuts off for, so we can relax at the weekend and enjoy the football, the banter, the competition, the rivalry. if we had none of that, there would be no football. what would be the point if we didnt have a go at each other, either at the other players, the mangers, the chairmen, or the simple dedicated fan in the office on a monday morning?

if you are seriously offended by the chant in question, then you have lost sight of the point of the game. you are taking it and yourself way too seriously, and you should and im sure do, have better things to worry about. you’re wanting to be offended. and if you still are, then so. so what. that is actually nobody’s problem but your own, and if you let something so trivial annoy you, then you have bigger problems at hand. you need to chill the f**k out. wind your neck in. build a bridge and get over it. does it effect you, your life or your family? no? then what’s the point of your ire? its offence for offence sake.

there’s 2 quotes id like to leave you with. Ghandi said,”don’t let others walk through your mind with their dirty feet” (not exact quotation…shoot me).

and the 2nd…..”they cannot hurt you unless you let them”. a song lyric written by Art Alexakis of Everclear.

Make of them what you will.

      • September 13, 2009 2:52 pm

This is all a classic case of perspective : Matthew seems too possess this, whereas Minttea does not. Sticks and stones may break my bones blah blah blah

The best place to answer all of this is on the pitch. Wenger needs to get his shit together and get his team winning..not just with his pansy passing game but with a bit of steel and grit as well. I find it crazy that Gooners are happy with things at the moment..and by moment, i mean the last 5 years.

I like that Gandhi quote. Becks should make that his next tattoo

The current side does lack the power we possessed with the Vieira’s and Bergkamps, but I honestly don’t think we’re far off with the balance. The rest is just mentality, they’re a growing side after all, literally. Happy? They’re my team. Gandhi? Paedophile.

      • September 13, 2009 3:50 pm

I agree i dont think arsenal are far away, but its still a million miles if you do not decide to buy for the right positions..look what arshavin has added..great buy. I totally agree with having an aggressive youth policy but it cant be the be all and end all. You also cant lose Toure and Adebayor and not replace them. Not when the squad is thin as it is. The Gunners will beat most as usual, will do well in the Champions League, but if thats ok for you Gooners and youre satisfied with that level, then fine. I think City are gonna push hard for a top 4 place this year…a fifth place finish will see the end of Wenger i think.

…except I can’t see them getting a CL spot, honestly. If any team will finish 4th, it’ll be liverpool. Hughes acts more in awe of his ‘superstar’ players than as a man in charge. Wantaway players can’t be helped; we cashed in, and the dressing room is the better for it.

and so it is reduced to name calling. getting like the house of commons in here (major addressing blair circa 1995).

what i’m saying, in respect of your opinion, is that it is based on a choice. we all possess the choice whether to be outraged or not. what i was sayin by chill the f**k out, is to, as rob mentioned, have a little perspective before releasing all this ‘outraged in arsenal’ rage.

for the most part, hooliganism excluded, fans in a football ground are self policing. we are all sons, fathers brothers and husbands. we, as a societal subculture, have an inbuilt moral compass, just as we all do in the real world. because a football ground, for those 90 mins, is NOT the real world. its a escape. thats the point. in the real world, in your life away from football, do you shout and scream and yell yourself hoarse at the actions of a certain 11 men and a leather bound ball? no. none of us do, unless we are on pro evo or something. football takes us away from the real world gives us hopes and dreams and fears. goosebumps and cheers.

but, despite the escape from reality, we all still have our consciences. that is what polices grounds and fans. there is the odd exception by a tiny minority, ref Munich 58 and Hilsborough. but that’s mocking the dead and injured…….a whole world away from wenger and that contraversial chant.

But its for those 90 odd mins, and on the way home in the car/coach/boat/plane. then it finishes. im sure wenger dreams sweetly at night, and im sure united fans, and fans everywhere, do too, given none of what they have heard a second thought….it was only at the football after all.
