Tal Ben-Haim leaves Eastlands for Pompey

September 1, 2009

Israeli defender Tal Ben-Haim has signed a four year deal to see him off from Manchester City to Portsmouth as we enter into the final hours of the Summer Transfer Window.

27 year old Ben-Haim entered the Premiership in 2004 signing with Bolton Wanderers from Maccabi Tel Aviv and he’s moved around quite a bit since.

He left the Reebok Stadium for Stamford Bridge in 2007, and put in a few appearances in Blue in his one year stint with Chelsea.

In the Summer of 2008, Manchester City bought the defender for about £5 million and loaned him out to Sunderland during the January transfer period of 2009.  He finished his season at the Stadium of Light and returned to Manchester City at the end of the 2008/2009 season.

And now, he’s off to Portsmouth on a 4 year contract.  But with Ben Haim’s track record, I think we’ll see him elsewhere within 2 years time.

Anyway, Mazel tov, Tal.

With all the quality players coming in, Haim was never going to play for City again really.

Portsmouth could use the players an all, but I’m not sure this signing will save them for the drop.
