Not for the Squeamish: Anderlecht’s Marcin Wasilewski Injury Video

September 1, 2009

Ok, that was nasty.

Anderlecht’s Marcin Wasilewski had his leg completely annihilated by Standard Liege’s Axel Witsel this Sunday.

The Polish defender has already undergone several surgeries and will face an operation to try to save his career.

According to Anderlecht’s medical staff,

“The medical team cleaned the open wound as well as possible. That is, because of the nature of the injury, there is a high risk of infection. Therefore, Marcin will be given antibiotics during the next few days. The purpose of that treatment is to make sure that he can be operated on definitively in the course of this week”

Axel Witsel saw a red card for his tackle, but a play like that is almost criminal.

Remember Eduardo’s leg break?

I think this one is even nastier.

The worst is seeing his reaction. Arggghhh. I feel sick.
Worst one I’ve ever seen though is Joe Theismann (Redskins QB). OMG…..shudder.

I love how light and airy that vid is inspite of the QB getting his leg snapped in half..

I can’t remember but I think Theismann came back and had a stellar career after the break. Maybe not. But he must have been big business cause even I know his name and I can name maybe 8 people in the NFL past or present. But I remember this injury- before the days of youtube. Dads just sat around watching that George Michael Sports Machine dude over and over and over.

Not ever one to start shouting for suspensions or criminal proceeding’s but Witsel needs to spend a few months in the stand.
