Stephen Ireland for United?

Stephen Ireland for United?

Manchester United have reportedly failed in a cheeky bid to bring Manchester City Player of the Year Stephen Ireland to the Theater of Dreams.

The Sunday Mirror claims that United attempted to lure the midfielder due to the huge competition for places at Eastlands but City officials has told the Old Trafford club that Ireland is not for sale at any price.

April Fool seems to have came for a second time this year.

However, it would be interesting to hear what Ireland has to say about this. Even though he is probably one of the first names on the City’s team-sheet and the “project” is going well so far, the chance to play Champions League football might proved to be tempting for the Irishman.

Wonder what Katie’s truth-o-meter has to say about this one.

    Doubtful at best.

No way this deal is plausible as City are building for a place in the big 4 and would not let a player like this leave them

Ireland is good, but not really a player for United

David Silva is more our style

City wouldn’t sell, especially to a team who they consider immediate rivals. Ireland has a sense of loyalty about him too, which suggests to me he wouldn’t make the move and incense the fans.

Fully agree with Rob. Ireland is a great player, but I can’t see him adapting himself to Fergie’s style. Yeah, I’d sign David Silva, that’s obvious.

Dodgy range rovers and ill advised tats aside, ireland is actually pretty decent. Maybe Utd should look into getting Michael Johnson, unless he already been shipped out.
