bayern munich 3-0 wolfsburg highlights video

August 30, 2009

Bayern Munich grabbed their first three points after they thrashed last year’s champions Wolfsburg 3-0.

Sebastian Schweintiger’s corner kick was cleared to Hamit Altintop just outside of the penalty area who unleashed a powerful shot that keeper Diego Benaglio only managed to parry in front of Mario Gomez who scored on the rebound.

New signing Arjen Robben got his Bundesliga career off to a flyer, scoring twice for Bayern’s first victory of the season. Robben came in as a half-time substitute and combined well with Franck Ribery, who also came in as a substitute on the hour mark.

The combination of Robben and Ribery only took 5 minutes to double the lead when Ribery picked up a loose ball in the middle of the pitch and play in Robben with a delightful through-ball. The former Real Madrid player fired a deflected shot just inside of the far post.

The three points were secured in the 80th minutes when Ribery and Robben once again combined in a counter-attack which ended up in Robben slotting his second of the night to crown a dream start to his Bundesliga career.

Looks like I’ll be watching a lot more of Bayern Munich’s games this season, thanks to the Dynamic Duo of two R’s.
