The 10 Best Footballers in the World?

August 24, 2009

Messi

Wow.  I don’t know who writes for the website Bukisa or who selected this lot, but I think they’re way off the mark.

And the chosen 10 are:

  1. Messi
  2. Crissy Pants
  3. Ibrahimovic
  4. Stevie G
  5. Et0’o
  6. Kaka
  7. Xavi
  8. Iniesta
  9. Lamps
  10. Torres

Ibrahovic?? Really? Lampard in the World’s Top 10?  That’s being a bit generous I think.

You can read the explanation for the f***ery here. You try to sort it out, because they lost me at Zlatan. * Please do leave a comment referring to that goal that Ibra had for Ajax.  That is not going to win an argument.

Who would your top 10 be?  Let us know in a comment!

      Loving the Vida choice.
I’m biased of course but the man is unbelievable.

      • August 24, 2009 7:58 pm

Even if you try to put your bias aside, can you come up with another defender you’d pick if you had to start a back four?

Rio – A bit to old
Terry – Too slow to be world class outside of EPL
Puyol – Is he big / physical enough to handle big strikers

Plus defenders and ‘keepers never get enough credit on “top 10” lists.

On Gerrard: “..March’s Premier League Player of the Month, enough said.”
I couldn’t agree more with the last part…

  3. August 24, 2009 8:19 pm

    In order:

    Christian Rolondo
    Lionel Messi
    Fernando Torres
    Iniesta
    Rooney
    Kaka
    Gerrard
    Riquelme
    Casillas
    John O’Shea.

    • August 24, 2009 8:27 pm

Wait. I think I just hallucinated. John O’Shea? Or was that comic relief?
God bless your little heart, Andrew.

Somewhere in Mancunia, John O’Shea just did the whole monologue from Taxi Driver in his mirror after reading this.

    • August 24, 2009 8:29 pm

      All you need to know…

      • August 24, 2009 8:34 pm

All credit to O’Shea for coming up HUGE a few times for United. And Lord knows I love Irishmen. But Top 10 in the World? Dude doesn’t even start every match for United. Mr. O’Shea and I suffer from a similar disease: lack of speed. He gets burned an awful lot for a world top 10.

      • August 24, 2009 8:49 pm

        Boy’s a genius.

Special mention for #11, Diego Forlan. What an improvement….

  4. August 24, 2009 8:33 pm

    messi
    etoo
    xavi
    iniesta
    rooney
    torres
    vidic
    gerrard
    reina – the token goalkeeper

  5. August 24, 2009 9:54 pm

O’shea is genius. That last minute goal against the scumbags a few years ago made him a utd legend.

On topic, I would rather have lamps in my team over most of those in the top ten. Definately over ronaldo but maybe that is the Englishman in me speaking. :-/

  6. August 24, 2009 10:57 pm

Where are zee Germans? No Schweinsteiger in anyone’s list? Other under represented European countries? France? Ribery? No Italians? No other Eastern Euros than the beautiful Vida? Or Africans? Hmmmmmm.

    2. Iniesta
    3. Xavi

…and I’m a Real fan. messi is the most gifted player on the planet- Iniesta is the best all round footballer. (Possesion skills, dribbling, head for the game, passing range, through balls, teamworks etc.) And Xavi is a maestro- intelligent passer etc.

    4. Kaka (on his day, not consistant enough these days though).
    5. Buffon / Iker (Buffon a few years ago, but now Iker).

    mentions:

    CR (Good but way overrated)
    Gerrard (see above)
    Torres
    Eto’o
