West Ham player Calum Davenport had emergency surgery after two thugs repeatedly stabbed him in both legs. Davenport’s mother was also knifed in the attack at his home town in Bedford, Bedfordshire. A West Ham spokesman said that the mother was recovering but her son was in serious condition and it is thought the father of one will never play again. NOTW claims – his injuries were so severe his left leg may have to be amputated – and the next 48 hours are critical.

Bedfordshire Police said a 25 year old man was arrested in Derby on suspicion of attempted murder following the attack, the man is brought to Bedford for questioning. Another man, 19, was arrested later and remains in custody.

I lived in Bedford for five years and I’m surprised something like this has happened, its a quaint and quiet little town just north of Luton. Although, the last couple of years Bedford has been in the center of attention for the wrong reasons.

Our thoughts are with you and your family.

What hooligans. They should be locked up for life for this absolutely ruthless and heartless attack. I hope Calum recovers and we do see him play again.

Charge as murder, not attempted. A footballer with no leg? Life as he knows it is over.
    Unbelievable.

    I feel sad.
