Jozy Altidore Ready for Hull City Debut: Work Permit Granted

August 21, 2009

I wonder how long it would take for twitter to render the beeb obsolete…..

Earlier this week, American Jozy Altidore let his Twitter fans and followers know his loan to Hull City from Villarreal would be put on hold dude to complications in processing a UK work visa.

On August 15th an obviously disappointed Altidore tweeted, “I really can’t wait for all this to get sorted out. I want to get back in the groove of things and start playing again…so frustrating!!!!!” *

* Note to D-Bent: This is how it’s done.

The USMNT striker finalized his visa application on August 19th and flew to England the following day to join his teammates who he had watched in their match v Spurs on television from his home in Connecticut.

And today, Jozy let everyone know, “Big game tomorrow, we are going to try and get some points back. Can’t wait to get to the stadium.”

Hull opened the season with a 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge and a debilitating 1-5 loss to Tottenham at Home on Wednesday.

Steven Hunt has scored both goals thus far for Hull and I’m sure he could use a bit of help on the attack.  And Jozy should be able to provide some much needed assistance now that he’s legal to work in Blighty.

The Tigers face Bolton at the KC Stadium Saturday at 3:00 PM GMT.

And I would just like to add that the United Kingdom has an ironclad work visa policy.  And there may have been a small temper tantrum at the British Embassy in Washington DC in 2002, when a young girl, fresh out of university and with a head full of dreams about a life within walking distance of Old Trafford and a handful of visa application paperwork was cruelly rejected by a certain horsey-faced English diplomat.  I must say it takes a certain level of heinousness to smile at someone while simultaneously crushing their hopes and dreams.

Just saying I feel Jozy’s pain.

      :-( It wasn’t a good day.
I got really close again 2 years ago with a job at Accenture but that fell through.
I’ve learned to love Washington DC and just appreciate a yearly holiday to Britain.
If England win the Ashes in the next few days that nagging desire to be there in the middle of it is going to come back with a vengeance I’m sure.

Just waiting on Paul Hartley to extend the marriage offer. Can’t be bothered to wait for Giggs or Vida to sort it out any longer.
