Please, Let’s Not Ruin Football: Sporting Lisbon’s Simon Vukcevic sent off for a Shirtless Display

I don’t like where this is heading. Sporting Lisbon’s Simon Vukcevic was sent off in yesterday’s Champions League match against Fiorentina for…….TAKING OFF HIS SHIRT TO CELEBRATE A GOAL.

This is not ok. The Montenegro International should have been awarded a second goal, not a sanctioning.

Hungarian Referee Viktor Kassai needs to apologize at once for trying to ruin football.

Vukcevic was shown yellow in the 12th minute of the match for involvement in a minor squabble but when he leveled with a net in the 56th minute and then went above and beyond to give fans what they really want to see, he was shown another yellow and an exit route from the pitch.  The match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Oh Viktor Kassai, would you have shown Giggs yellow after what was possibly one of the greatest moments in all of football (and my life)?

giggs1This was truly timeless.

We hope this matter is sorted out at once.

I also hope that players start taking off their shirts left and right in protest.  Obviously the only way to overcome this unjust ruling.

its a silly little rule really, initially it was implemented because of players who wore slogans under their tops. like kaka and jeebus, vieiri who used to show his company’s logo whenever he scored – https://wedontknowfootball.wordpress.com/files/2009/08/vieirimaldinisweetyears_266_img.jpg

Giggsy did get a yellow if my memory serves me right? (it was one of the great moments of my life as well!) And i remember Forlan getting booked for taking his shirt off and then not being able to put it back on!!! silly.

In the main i fully agree with you. It is not ungentlemanly conduct, which is the reason for the booking. But part of me says just keep your bloody top on! The stick Giggsy recieved about his chest rug since has been epic..that could have been avoided if he just waved his hands in the air when he scored or did a little Lee Sharpe shuffle.

    But yes..its a stupid rule

Whoever speaks of Giggs’ obvious example of ample virility is speaking out from a place of pure jealousy.
It takes years to cultivate something so spectacular. So symmetrical.
But it wounded him to the core, and it appears he’s since he’s been manscaping. But not to my chagrin….he’s reached a balance I like to call “just right”

It’s glorious. And such a grand spectacle should be shown upon scoring goals. Two delights for the price of one.

You can’t really blame the ref though seeing the law is so black and white, if a player removes his shirt at any time under any circumstance a yellow card must be given. I personally don’t mind the rule seeing that I don’t really like the cheesy shirt off goal celebration that has quite frankly been done to death, you’ve gotta be a little more creative if you ask me :P

Now, Pete. Imagine if watching women’s football wasn’t like watching an underwater match (women footballers are incredibly technically sound but pace and strength just aren’t comparable).
And as an added bonus they all went Brandi Chastain every so often. I wouldn’t deny you that pleasure.

Haha alright Katie when you put it that way I guess maybe they should get rid of this rule even if it is only to keep all the girls out there happy :) But unfortunately on the other side of the coin Brandi Chastain moments aren’t as enjoyable for us guys seeing that most of the girls that play from what I’ve seen aren’t really that great in terms of looks unlike yourself :)
