Former Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann has announced his planned retirement before Stuttgart’s 2-0 victory over Timisoara in their UEFA Champions Leauge qualification match last night.

Lehmann made it known that he plans to retire on 30 June 2010 saying that “It’s the end after that. I will have had enough by then. It will be time to do something else.” The German backstopper retired from international football following the 2008 Euros but has since announced that he would love to start for his country in the upcoming World Cup in South Africa.

The Essen born Lehmann has had stints with some of the biggest clubs in Europe such as Shalke 04, AC Milan, BVB Dortmund, Arsenal and currently plies his trade at Vfb Stuttgart winning trophies along the way. Lehmann beat out Oliver Kahn, as he was handed the number one shirt during the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Mad Jens also announced that he plans to further his education once he is out of football and is slated to make his acting debut in a film called “Themba” set to be released in Germany. Lehman will play a scout looking for African football talents.
