Quiz Time: Premiership Week 1 in Review

August 17, 2009

So how much of the football did you get to see this weekend?  3 matches on 3 televisions at the pub put me into serious ADHD mode, but oh it’s a beautiful thing that football is officially back.

WDKF plans of capturing a few questions based off the week’s matches for you to see how much you can remember.

And here goes:

  1. Who scored this season’s first goal?
  2. Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard converted a penalty awarded in the 56th minutes of play after Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes brought down which player in the box?
  3. How many goals were scored in second half stoppage time and who scored them?
  4. Which players had multiple goals in their season debuts?
  5. Which 7 clubs maintained a clean sheet?
  6. How many minutes did Carlos Teves play in Manchester City’s match V. Blackburn?
  7. Who scored the 6 Arsenal goals V Everton?
  8. Two matches saw zero bookings.  And one match saw 6. Which were they?
  9. Manchester United debuted Summer signing Antonio Valencia in their tie with Birmingham.  From which club was he purchased and at what reported cost?
  10. Well, Sunderland got their money’s worth for Twitter connoisseur Darren Bent.  He scored the black cat’s game winning goal against Bolton.  Just how much did Steve Bruce pay Daniel f***ing Levy for the striker?

And the Answers

Tottenham

  1. Hull City’s Stephen Hunt, who hit Chelsea’s net 28 minutes into the 2009-2010 season.
  2. Liverpool’s new signing, Glen Johnson.
  3. 3. Chelsea’s Didier Drogba hit the gamewinner against Hull City in 90 + 2.  Everton’s Saha took one back from Arsenal’s six goal lead at 90+2.  And Manchester City’s Steven Ireland showed incredible composure as he put City’s second goal v. Blackburn in the back of the net at 90+1.
  4. Chelsea’s Didier Drogba and Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas both stand with 2 goals a piece.
  5. Wigan, Manchester City, Sunderland, Fulham, Stoke, West Ham, and Manchester United.

This question should have been included..

Which team beat Liverpool on the first weekend of the season, and probably made Steven Gerrard cry and demand a transfer to Man City, before getting his violent thug mates involved?

Did you also know that this is only the 2nd time in 9 seasons that Spurs started off the season with a win? We’re that bad! :(
