Man Utd win last friendly match

August 6, 2009

Wayne-Rooney-Michael-Owen

Manchester United played their last friendly match last night at old Trafford against Valencia. The scoreline was 2-0 in United’s favor, with Rooney and Cleverley scoring in the second half, while Owen, who was partnered for the first time with Rooney upfront at United, failed to score from the chances provided to him, and could have netted 4 himself!

Sir Alex was pleased however with Owen’s display and was also full of praise for new winger Antonio Valencia (not the team here :P) as he was the provider of both goals.

One thing to be noted thought, Valencia (team) made 10 substitutions during the interval!!

A sterner test is awaiting United on Sunday, where they will face Chelsea for the Community Shield, while Valencia will play a friendly match against Arsenal in Spain on Saturday.

I think Ferguson’s Owen praise is unnecessarily positive, United won’t retain their title this season!
