Kiko: Next Generation Superstar?

July 27, 2009

kiko

Frederico Macheda, or Kiko to his admirers, has shown some glittering cameos since he first came on against Aston Villa, with the scoreline being 2-2 at that time, to score a very important goal which led to a Manchester United’s victory as well as the revival in the push for the Premier League crown.

This time he’s making a bigger noise at the pre-season Asia Tour 2009, where with 2 appearances he has scored 2 goals, the latest being on Friday against FC Seoul in a 3-2 win, where he equalized at 2-2 before Berbatov eventually scoring the winner. This 17 year old Italian boy is certainly eye-catching with every game he plays, and he has shown he is deadly in front of goal, his calmness personified when he scored the equalizer on Friday by rounding up the keeper first to score, unlike some players who would have gone for a first time shot.

I sincerely hope he will not be loaned out after the season starts, as this has regularly happened to some promising youngsters, and they were eventually left out of United as they continued their career elsewhere, forgotten forever, unless they came back to haunt United but still not taken back to the squad.

With an attacking force consisting of Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen, Danny Welbeck and Kiko himself, United can go far this season as well, but I would like to know what Sir Alex Ferguson thinks about the Montenegro player, Dejan, who ran the defence ragged when United faced FC Seoul. He scored 2 goals as well before being substituted, but he has shown some wonderful skills with the ball, and has pace. Hopefully Fergie can try land him as well, I don’t know his age thou, since United applies a policy of age limit and according to some, for the longetivity of the squad.

the defence has been a bit off in the tour so far, hopefully they wake up for the tournament in germany. think thats why that fellow dejan had a field day in seoul.

im still not convinced on kiko, maybe its his age or the fact that he loses possession easily.

Btw, Dejan Damjanovic, the FC Seoul player is 28yrs old so unlikely SAF will sign him. A little too young for Sam Allardyce’s preferred age group as well!
