fergie took the tevez poster bait

July 27, 2009

Sir Alex Ferguson exposed Emmanuel Adebayor and his agent’s last minute calls to Chelsea and Manchester United in the hope that they would hijack the striker’s move from Arsenal to Manchester City. It is quite amusing to read that the claim was in respond to the Tevez billboard in the City Center, not too sure which is funnier – Adebayor’s last minute attempts before settling for City or Ferguson going mental over a billboard. The season haven’t even started yet.

Furthermore, he took a fresh swipe at Rafa Benitez by claiming Benítez is the one who is obsessed with him rather than the other way round. “I never said a word. The only time I responded to him was the time he made the gesture with Sam Allardyce. There is no doubt he was doing that (signaling game over). Liverpool were too quick to come out and respond by saying he was signaling that they should take a free kick a different way. Bullocks, absolute bullocks“. Mental.

Before the Adebayor claim, Ferguson called City are “a small club with a small mentality“.  I have to agree with him there, City are a small club, they’re the 2nd biggest club in Manchester, can’t remember them winning a cup and the billboard was kinda petty but they do have the resources to do something sooner rather than later. The biggest problem for them now is, Mark Hughes has to get it right.

If I were Fergie I would keep an eye on City this time, they seem to be in good position to tackle and upset the big 4, while United have shown some weakness already at the back in the Asia Tour, and with an attacking power like City they could be facing their worst fears in some weeks time

i doubt that city will break top four, truly believe villa and everton will do better than city. but then again, i might be wrong. depends how well and how quickly city work together, especially with so many new faces.
