happy holidays everyone

December 21, 2008

Initially, I thought the FIFA World Club Cup was just a waste of time especially with the non-existence of a mid-season break in the English Premier League. T’was more of a glorified international Mickey Mouse cup for the continental winners, with more trophies and medals. And a big-ass golden key to a presumably big-ass golden Toyota for the Player of the Tournament.

But actually, it is nice to have all the winners of the different continental cups involved in one global tournament. Fight for the title of World Club Cup Champions. It’s like the World Cup, but club-level. Errr, ya it’s still a waste of time. Anyway, it’s Manchester United’s glorified international Mickey Mouse cup now.

Hey. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Did you watch yesterday’s match? United in total control but squandered many opportunities.

Anyway nice got here. Surprised I didn’t come across it earlier.

Thanks for the comment. I agree though, the Liverpool/Arsenal match was very unevenly refereed. I kept expecting Lucas to get carded and he didn’t until way late.

Also, the Club World Cup is a good idea, but I don’t think it truly involves the best clubs in the world. I think it would be more exciting (albeit totally time consuming and unreasonable) to have the champions of each league (Premier League, La Liga, MLS, etc, etc.) involved. I think you’d end up with a more worthy champion then. Not that MU didn’t deserve it, but I hardly think the competition as it is now qualifies them as “World Champions”.

thx for visiting my blog…totally agree with ulrik, manchester utd created many opportunities but somehow lacked the finishing touch they once had when van nistelrooy was at the club. Nevertheless they deserved the trophy.
Suspense still however in the EPL- who will finally win the Premier League?!
In the mean time i wish u all a merry christmas & happy new year

i had a different idea for the world club cup, but i think u;rik’s idea is more worthy in the end.

    happy holidays!
