Die Kugel ist um.

What a bloody nightmare. Two points in as many games. Rooney out for two months. Ronaldo out for three games. My pre-season optimism is melting away faster than an ice cube in the middle of the Sahara. I was strolling down broadway when I received a text which read £60 million and O’Shea is the striker?!

It’s easier said than done but we will just have to focus on the positives. The two key players out will mean that a few new faces will be given the chance to shine. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing more of Chris Eagles squidding his way down the flank. He’s no Ronaldo but the boy’s got talent. We can also shelve the big debate about Wayne and Carlos’s compatibility up front. The only remaining question is why sir Alex hasn’t given Owen Hargreaves any field time.

As I’ve yet to watch a full 90 minutes, I’ll have to postpone judgment until Monday.

On a more chirpier note with a dash of envy, everyone else’s new signings with the exception of spurs seem to be gelling real well. All eyes were on Sven’s ultimate DVD collection as they silenced the critics. Pizzaro and Maloud from Chelski have already registered themselves on scoresheets. And Sparky’s shrewd summer signing, Roque Santa Cruz, at time of press has two goals to his name.

When news broke that several Premiership clubs were interested in the dashing Paraguayan I was secretly hoping that United was one of them. He broke into the scene in 1999 at Fifa’s U-20 world cup and was snapped up by Bayern. I’ve been following his career for a while and was over the moon at the thought that he would be playing in the premiership albeit for a team besides United. He seemed like a well rounded player – comfortable with either foot, good in the air and has just the right amount of technique to escape a marker. Oh well, if he plays exceptionally well against United this season you just know that Sir Alex will go out on a limb to sign him. Oh did i mention that hes ruggedly handsome? Maybe thats why the team has been shaky. You throw in Tevez into a team with Rooney and Gazza then theres an excess of ugly.
