Did you say Quagliarella?

When news of United’s triple swoop in the market broke, I was as ecstatic as all the other posers but if history has taught us anything it’s that you cannot praise a Veron before he’s played a domestic game.

The last time United splurged in the market was in that faithful summer of ‘03 when Old Trafford saw the arrival a world cup winner – Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba – a player so good they had to name him twice, David Bellion – because Fergie has a thing for frenchmen with a £1 million price tag, Tim Howard – who got kidnapped after his first season and Cristiano Ronaldo. Between the 2003/04 and 2006/07 season United only managed the F.A Cup (2004) and the Carling Cup (2006). Coincidence?

A little bit of history
Water under the bridge?

Like Pengiran Asboy always said, “The transfer market is like boxes of kinder suprise, the hype will be sugar coated but you’ll never know what you’ll get until you buy it”. Fortunately this time around, the new boys with the exception of Owen Hargreaves, will have Cristiano Ronaldo to guide them.

Alas history can only serve as a guideline which we should learn from. The past cannot predict the future. That said if history has taught us anything it’s that you cannot praise a Veron before he’s played a domestic game.
