Darren Bent’s Twittergate just part of a new trend in Football.

Another Twitter scandal hit the world of football yesterday. This time, it’s Darren Bent feeling the heat after expressing his frustration with a transfer out of Tottenham via his account @db10thetruth.
Benty tweeted
“Seriously getting p***** off now,” followed by “Why can’t anything be simple. It’s so frustrating hanging round doing jack s***.”
A few hours later, Bent decided he had more to say.
“Sunderland are not the problem in the slightest.”
“Do I wanna go Hull City NO. Do I wanna go stoke NO do I wanna go sunderland YES so stop f****** around levy.”
We’re assuming this message was meant for Daniel Levy, chairman at Spurs.
Well, it’s nice to know I’m not the only person who has a serious problem thinking before I speak.
This is the second occurrence in the past few weeks where a footballer has been scolded for expressing their opinion via their twitter account.
Houston Dynamo and American National Squad player Brian Ching was actually fined for his critique of a referee’s performance that stated that “the referee was cheating.”
And in the Wonderful World of Cricket, Australia’s Phillip Hughes created controversy when he sent out a message stating he would not be participating in the Ashes Third Test at Edgbaston.
All of these instances point to a trend in football, and all sport really. Athletes will most likely continue to speak their mind, believing Twitter is a personal forum to state opinion. And I tend to agree with that sentiment.
What do you think? Should professionals be held to a different standard? Or is it a different standard? I certainly don’t write about my work from my account. Is Darren Bent moaning about the state of his transfer any different than me writing about any incompetence of my employer?
Let us know your thoughts.

private matters should be private, but i can understand his frustration. tottenham knows they made a mistake in signing bent for a ridiculous amount of money, and they want other clubs to pay for their mistake by selling the striker to the highest bidder. bent wants sunderland, but sunderland may not be willing to pay as much as the other clubs.
he deleted his account btw. and fyi, its levy.
This whole twitter thing… It’s dangerous in some ways.. So many times I’ve thought about complaining about sh%t at work. But no, I know somehow, its gonna creep up and bite me in the a$$. lol.
BTW, know any authentic United twitter accounts?
Sure,
So far I know of Wayne @realwaynerooney and Rio @RedRio. The Giggs account is fake I believe. If he had one, I would know. And I would stalk.
Thanks for reading :-)
Message to Darren Bent:
“If you want to go to Sunderland and not Hull or Stoke, can I? We’re both similar players.. I mean we both play up front and keep missing the target. If you have a chance to play for Hull or Stoke, Darren, then so do I.”
Gaffer, Just think, with those skills you could play for England as well.
Bent is gash! My Dad’s a Spurs fan and he hates the geezer. He’s definitely the most over-priced footballer in the history of life, and he couldn’t hit a barn door to save his life.
He’s suit Stoke I think. Even Sunderland are too good for him.
All I want is for Bent to get lost, because even 14mil pounds is good money… levy needs a reality check! its his own mistake!
