the little italian scapegoat

Poor Giuseppe Rossi. He was never a favourite amongst US football fans, the American team invited him to a training camp ahead of the ’06 World Cup finals but Beppe, as he is lovingly known by his admirer, chose to honour his Italian heritage and pursue the potential of an international career with Italy instead. Who can blame him really? Now, after scoring twice against the Americans in the Confederations Cup match, fans are calling for his head and branding him a traitor.
In fact, even prior to the match between the US and Italy last Wednesday, critiques were already harsh on the forward.
If I’m not mistaken, he has never played for the US team at any level even as a junior and moved from New Jersey to join Parma when he was 12. From there, he represented Italy from the U-16 to U-21 level so can America really say they developed Rossi?
Personally I think they should just concentrate on bitching on their national team, Sunil Gulati or Bruce Arena, or possibly the player(s) who were supposed to close Rossi down as he ripped one from 30 yards! They potentially have a great team there and played well for 65 minutes (and half of that with 10 men) against the World Cup winners.

The problem with America is that they ‘THINK’ they developed Rossi! Anyhoos I think Man Utd should just invoke their buy-back clause and get him back. Tevez is too pricey and any bid Man Utd make will be overpriced since everyone knows how much they’re getting for Ronaldo.
Rossi will come cheap, he knows the language and the weather pretty darn well, and would also know the system fairly easily.
Rossi would be the ideal replacement since he already played with United, knows about the system, the manager and would indeed progress as well if he plays with the likes of rooney, berba and others
he played in the premier league for two teams already, and i dont think he was any good. probably because of his size. hes doing well in the la liga thou.
