Confed Cup Predictions
I was meant to preview the first round of games for the Confed Cup but it just goes to show how important this tournament really is. Even South Africans didn’t want to attend it! Anyway, here goes!
As I write this, Brazil has already beaten Egypt 4-3 in a rather close game. Egypt were already my choice to be surprise semifinalists, but I doubt it’ll happen now.
USA vs Italy
Prediction: Italy wins 3-0. Rossi to score against the country of his birth.
Spain vs Iraq
Prediction: Spain wins 4-0. Based on how rubbish Iraq were against the hosts, they don’t stand a chance against Europe’s best!
South Africa vs New Zealand
Prediction: Battle of the poor teams. 1-1 draw. Shane Smeltz to score.
USA vs Brazil
Prediction: A subdued Brazil to scrape a 2-1 win.
Egypt vs Italy
Prediction: Egypt to battle for a thrilling 2-2 draw against the World Champions.
Spain vs South Africa
Prediction: Spain to rest key players, but still be too good for the hosts. 3-0 to Spain
Iraq vs New Zealand
Prediction: New Zealand to pull off a shocker, against Iraq. 1-0
USA vs Egypt
Prediction: A tough Confed Cup for the Americans ends in a loss against The Pharoahs. 3-1 to Egypt.
Brazil vs Italy
Prediction: Sexy football meets defensive football. 1-1.
Semifinals
Spain vs Italy
Prediction: Tough match ends in 1-0 victory for Italy
Brazil vs New Zealand
Prediction: Overly mismatched. Easy victory for Brazil. 5-0.
Finals
Brazil vs Italy
Prediction: Rematch of the earlier Group B game. Italy to add the Confed Cup to their World Title.

the brazilians won it the hard way in the end, but if not in this competition, with the world cup coming, egypt is a force in african football to reckon with, they can cause lot of trouble to great sides, but only thing is that they are not well placed in their qualifying group.
As for ur USA-Italy prediction, nearly got it in the end, 1-3 Italy’s favor, but vs. 10 men USA. Would have loved to see Irak and USA head to head in a match :D god only knows what would have happened :P

Yup I agree! I think Egypt were unfortunate to be in the group where they are now. And I was nearly grinning at Rossi scoring against the US of A. haha
hmm now THAT wud be very interesting… i think they did have a game in the world cup.. but that was a bit of an anti-climax as both teams were already out then…
