once in a blue moon

Ryan Giggs may not be the true choice for the people who are not playing in the Premier League (John Hartson. Shaka Hislop), but the players themselves have chosen him ahead of his team-mates and Steven Gerrard to lift the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award. Is that not proven enough? Players who are more in-tune to what is needed to play at the highest level, rather than the pundits.
With only 12 starts and 1 goal to his name this season, the decision seems outrageous. Some say he was voted for his accomplishments from his playing years rather than just this season. He is the most decorative player ever, if I’m not mistaken, with 1o Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups, 3 League Cups, 6 Community Shields, 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 Intercontinental Cup and 2 Champions League winner’s medals as well as two PFA young player awards. The Merit Award would have been more fitting for the Stretford legend, some would say.
How do you actually measure contribution? Is contribution simply about amount of goals scored, scintillating display of skills and the number of clean-sheets made? If contribution includes intangible qualities like team-spirit, morale and leadership for sure Ryan Giggs deserves the inclusion in the list for the accolade. To pick up the trophy itself, well that’s the players’ choice.
BTW. Don’t you think its about time the other fuckers in this blog do something more? :)
